Miller’s Mansion, originally written in 1985, is the product of a feverish two-week writing marathon. During that time, Blackwell immersed himself completely, typing day and night on his Tandy computer, eating and sleeping on the floor, driven by the almost spiritual compulsion of the story itself. “It became a spooky love story,” he recalls. “I couldn’t leave the room, I felt as if someone was sitting on my shoulder, telling me exactly what to type.”
